Risk Rewards- The "Org Chart"
There was a time when the corporate organizational chart was a tool for human resources professionals to keep track of employees in various departments and who they reported to. Today, the corporate organizational chart (“Org Chart”) takes on a new meaning, determining your status, power and yes your rewards/compensation.
The best and the brightest are fully aware that the climb up the organizational chart involves a considerable degree of risk where job security is put in to play but it also comes with a high level of rewards with increased compensation and power within the organization.
Thus, the best and brightest must take into consideration such factors as, when you make that climb and secure that coveted department head spot with 10 direct reports, if your boss is replaced and a new one takes the helm are you considered part of the previous regime or an integral part of the company. There was a high return of reward for you but a low risk of job security. Each week the Diversity|JD|MBA staff will tackle the “Risk and Rewards” returns of climbing the Org Chart.
